Celebration of Doug Usher’s Life Riders Requested Thursday, June 4, starting at 10:30 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. service at Lyons Funeral Home, 28 Elm Street, Danvers Obituary for Doug Usher Facebook Event Page Please join us, with the family and friends of Doug Usher, on your bikes this Thursday morning, June 4th. We will ‘cone-off’ an area for motorcycle parking. Doug passed earlier this month. In 2002, a driver turned left in front of his oncoming motorcycle in Plymouth, resulting in horrific injuries. Doctors said 10% chance of survival, likely never to walk again . . .but he fought and pretty much beat those odds, with about a 60% recovery, resulting with daily, on-going struggles. He lived life and fought the fight. His family, who includes local rider and long-time “Riders Helping Riders” supporter Sue Boaman Diecidue, have asked, in lieu of flowers, to donate to the Massachusetts Motorcyclists Survivor’s Fund, in Dougie’s memory. Donations may be made in Doug’s memory using PayPal (below) or by mail with checks payable to MMSF, Inc., (MMSF, P.O. Box 446, Topsfield, MA 01983).

Cookout honoring and thanking the family of Nelson Selig, who allowed us into their lives the past 15 years after Nelson’s death on May 2, 2000. That tragedy sparked an “awareness” for motorcycle safety in Massachusetts, and we appreciate his entire family for allowing that.
Co-hosted by the Massachusetts Motorcyclists Survivor’s Fund (MMSF), Bikers Helping Bikers and Check Twice Signs – we were going to have it in their back yard, but figured over the 15 years, more than 50 families helped, hundreds of volunteers and thousands of supporters over those years, we’ll be at where it all began, the Ipswich VFW, 11 a.m., to 2 p.m., with presentations at high noon. Ride or drive in and give your thanks to Nelson’s family.

TRANSITION COMING…STEP UP!!
Our Massachusetts Motorcyclists Survivor’s Fund, Inc., will begin a ‘phasing out’ the MMSF and ‘phasing in’ of a revamped “Bikers Helping Bikers / Riders Helping Riders” organization. Starting next month, we’ll be interviewing those with an interest in serving in leadership roles, participating in training workshops in February, and designing by-laws and electing officers in March, in advance of the upcoming 2015 riding season.
Current co-founders, Jason Hallock and Paul W. Cote, having participated the past 15 years, will be ‘retiring’ upon the completed transition, along with several other current MMSF Board Members, who will remain available to help as needed.
If you have a passion helping others, send an e-mail with your name and phone number to [email protected] and we’ll contact you with info for the February workshops.
